The soul is eternal. It inhabits the physical form for a decided period of time, to make itself worthy of a blissful life in akherat (the after life). The soul's original abode is akherat and its life in this physical world is akin to that of a vulnerable stranger who can be stifled and suppressed. When the spirit is suppressed, the physical form takes dominance. The average human feels trapped in physical constraints on which he has little or no control. His life becomes a grind, and he lives one day after another in a rut of hopeless despair.
His spirit needs reawakening, and there is no occasion more apt to do so than Ashara Mubarakah. It is an opportunity to rekindle the soul, rediscover and redeem oneself. What is required of a mumin is purity of heart, sincerity of purpose and genuine effort. The rest is taken care of by the divine and benevolent presence of Aqa Maula, Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin (TUS).
In the contemporary history of Dawat, Ashara Mubarakah is the singular event for the community. It is an event which influences fates and fortunes, changes destinies and lives. The gratification gained by a mumin sitting at the feet of Maula (TUS), shedding tears on Imam Husain (SA), performing matam, acquiring pearls of wisdom and dua and being immersed in the spiritual environment perpetuated by Maula's (TUS) divine presence helps him to overcome the challenges of the changing times. Therefore, it is every mumin's earnest desire to journey to the place where Aqa Maula (TUS) conducts Ashara Mubarakah to gain from the benefits of journeying as enumerated by Maulana Ali (SA): "Travel forth in search of glory, for in travelling you will receive five benefits. Your worries will be alleviated; you will earn a livelihood; you will acquire knowledge and good manners and profit from the companionship of a noble person." The presence of Imam Husain's (SA) Dai bestows upon him these benefits, sets him on the right path- the path of the heavens, and augurs well for the entire year. Aqa Maula (TUS) said on the day of Aashura, in Marol "If you shed one tear on Imam Husain (SA), then you have indeed succeeded in the trial of Deen." What more then, can one ask for?
