Al Marat ul Mumina

Rasulullah (SAW) says: O people, marry because I shall take pride in the number of my followers on the day of Qayamat. The best kind of woman is one who is loving and fertile; do not marry those that are brainless since their companionship is insufferable and their children are lost.

It can be deduced from the above hadith that a good wife is one who possesses the following three qualities: fertility, love and intellect. A wife, then, has three main functions: to reproduce, to provide gratification and good companionship. The Quran e Majeed has referred to all of these qualities in some form or the other. One ‘ayat states, “Your women are your plantation” referring to fertility and reproduction. Another ‘ayat says, “Allah has created between you love and rehmat” which means that a wife who is not loving is no companion.

Rasulullah (SAW) will take pride in his followers literally in terms of numbers as well as in the deeni sense which means that the more the followers the greater their salehaat (good deeds) which will in turn increase the ajar of he who has given them hidayat.

The children of a brainless woman are lost can mean two things: either that they will go astray as the mother will not be capable of looking after them or that they are worthless as they can provide no benefit to themselves or to others.
