A woman should wear some jewellery all the time in order to distinguish herself from men, because resemblance (mushabahat) with men is not allowed in Islam. Moreover, namaz is not accepted without some form of jewelry.

Women should not wear anklets that jingle as this attracts people around her.

It is preferable for women to wear ornaments of gold. Silver can be worn too. Women should never wear iron ornaments because iron is the metal of the people of jahannam. Ruby, emerald, pearl, corals are mubarak among other stones.
It is preferable to ask and take raza from Hazrat Aliyah before wearing any semi precious stone jewelry.
