Tear Drop

Look at the map of the world and you will find a tear drop on its surface. This tear drop is a country whose shape became an emblem for the event that occurred within its boundaries. This shape captured the emotions, feelings and the thoughts of the thousands who had gathered from around the world. They had congregated to listen to Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin (TUS) recall, with grief and lamentation, the tragic events of Kerbala culminating in the Shahadat of Imam Husain (SA).

Many cities had earnestly prepared to host Ashara Mubarakah. Maula, (TUS) however, with the guiding light of Imam-uz-Zaman’s (SA) ilham, selected Colombo as the venue this year. Indeed the mumineen of Colombo are fortunate to have got the opportunity for two consecutive years; a privilege given to very few cities in the past.

'Serendib,' which is the archaic name of Sri Lanka, has immense historical significance in the history of Dawat. It is the very land in which the first prophet, Maulana Adam, (AS) was born and from where Dawat commenced. Moving from one land to another; from Baitul-Muqaddas to Hijaz, Iraq, Misr and Yemen the seat of Dawat moved to Hind (India). Fatemi scholars describe the return of Dawat to Hind as a completion of a circle, as Allah says in Quran-e-majeed, "You will return from where you started."

What makes a place worthy of becoming the capital of Dawat is not its economic prosperity, political stability, technological supremacy or natural beauty; it is the faith and purity of its inhabitants (mumineen) that determine the acquisition of barakat in the form of the presence of the Dai.
