Manifestation of Imam Husain’s (SA) barakaat in his Dai

The Zikra Milad of Syedna Taher Saifuddin (RA) (on the 27th of Zilqadah) cannot be celebrated in any way better than to remember with a deep sense of gratitude his benedictions and benevolence on the children of dawat, enumerate his divine virtues and exalt his tireless efforts in protecting and preserving the rich culture and heritage of Aimmat Fatemiyeen. Amongst the innumerable and magnificent virtues he displayed, his mourning and lament on Imam Husain (SA) left an everlasting mark on the history of dawat.

Syedna Taher Saifuddin (RA) was chosen by Imam-uz-Zaman (SA) to revive the 'matam' and 'buka' on Imam Husain(AS).These 'barakaat' became manifest in the following forms.

  • Even before his birth, while still in his mother's womb, he received the barakat of the zarih mubarak of Imam Husain (SA).

  • From the day Syedna Taher Saifuddin (RA) ascended the throne of dawat to the night he ascended towards heaven, no bayan or waaz was delivered without the zikr of Imam Husain (SA). Especially, during Ashara Mubaraka, his grief and sorrow knew no bounds. Also, with his raza mubarak and meticulous guidance, hundreds of khidmat guzars performed Ashara waaz in different places thereby enabling lakhs of Mumineen to gain the barakaat of Imam Husain (SA). Syedna Taher Saifuddin (RA) himself would narrate the sorrowful events of Kerbala with such poignant detail that he would sketch the picture of Kerbala before the eyes of those present. He would also allude to the philosophy and divine meanings hidden in the shahadat of Imam Husain (SA)

  • This intense pain and grief deeply embedded in his heart combined with the divine knowledge of the 'haqiqat' hidden in the events of Kerbala found expression in his Marsiyah Sharifa, "Ya Syeda-sh -shohadai." This marsiyah is not only an elegiac narration of Imam Husain's (SA) martyrdom, but it is also a treasure of barakaat, a source of fulfillment and a form of invocation for every mumin.

  • Syedna Taher Saifuddin (RA) travelled to Kerbala to perform the ziyarat of Imam Husain (SA) on more than one occasion. During his visit he composed a salaam to be recited during ziyarat. Ever since, Mumineen pray near the zarih mubarak with the intercession of this salaam.

  • During his pilgrimage to Kerbala in the year 1353 H, (He was accompanied by Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin (TUS)) he resolved to erect a zarih on the qabr mubarak of Maulana Ali (SA) and Imam Husain (SA). These zarihs were prepared in Mumbai and in 1356 H were completed and installed in their places. Syedna Taher Saifuddin (RA), along with Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin (TUS) travelled to Kerbala for the dedication of these zarihs.

  • The burial spot of Imam Husain's (SA) raas mubarak (head) lay obscured for hundreds of years before it was miraculously discovered in Asqalaan during the golden reign of Imam Mustansir (SA). Maulana Badr-ul-Jamali (RA) with the instructions of Imam Mustansir (SA) built a masjid to mark the place and documented the whole event on the minbar of that masjid. Later, after the seclusion of Imam Taiyyib (SA), the raas mubarak was transferred to Qahera. Syedna Taher Saifuddin (RA) was the first Dai to visit Qahera. During his historic visit, he confirmed the burial of the raas mubarak in Qahera. In his final moments on the fateful night of 19th of Rajab, photographs of the completed and installed zarih of raas ul Imam Husain (SA) were presented to him.

  • On the same night Syedna Taher Saifuddin (RA) passed away in Matheran. With the noor and ilham of Imam-uz-Zaman (SA), Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin Aqa (TUS) brought Syedna Taher Saifuddin (RA) to Mumbai and selected for the burial the very place in which the two zarihs of Imam Husain (SA) and Maulana Ali (SA) had been prepared.

Today, one witnesses the manifestation of these barakaat in abundance in Syedna Taher Saifuddin's (RA) son and successor, Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin (TUS). May Allah keep him amongst us forever.
