Marvels of the Quran

The Marvel of Birth

Allah created insaan in the best of moulds. He gave him a complex body made of many different parts, each working in complete tandem with the other to form the most remarkable and advanced being on earth, a miniature cosmos replicating the universe around him.

Man has long had a desire to understand human conception and embryology, however until the twentieth century scientists did not know much about the growth of the embryo inside the womb. Some early scientists even believed that, female eggs contained miniature humans that grew like trees once the egg was fertilized. Modern scientists have through advanced equipment, unveiled many remarkable facts on the stages that a human child goes through before he comes out into the world.

In its concise manner the Quran e Majeed has given a detailed description of the stages a fetus goes through from conception to birth.

1. Sulalah

5.’ Izaam

2. Nutfa

6. Lahm

3. Alaqa & akhar

7.Khalqan

4. Mudgha

Scientists have been awestruck by the terms used in the Quran e Majeed for each stage of fetal development, insisting that these words are the most accurate and comprehensive ones able to describe the process.

They have, through advanced pictures seen what the Quran has described: the embryo starts off as a drop that is a mixture of male and female fluid. This water in time resembles a blood clot which clings to the lining of the uterus. Then it grows into a lump that resembles a chewed morsel. Soon the bones grow, followed by the muscles which wrap themselves around the bones. By six months a fetus is physically ready and would survive if born.

It is in the Quran…

A woman was brought before Umar because she delivered a baby in six months. He wanted to punish her presuming the child was born out of wedlock. Amirul Mumineen stopped him stating the child was legitimate. Umar asked Moulana Ali (SA) how he came upon this judgment and Moulana Ali (SA) stated. It is in the Quran- Allah says the period of conception to weaning is 30 months. In another ‘ayat he says mothers shall breastfeed their children for two years.

Hence (by simple deduction 30 minus 24) the minimum age a child can be born is in 6 months.

The child of a mumin is precious from the time he is in the womb

Aqa Moula (TUS) in his dua mubarak says:

Awliyaullah (SA) have provided guidance to ensure a healthy mumin child is born to the expectant parents.

  • Rasulullah (SAW) stated ‘Choose well where you place your nutfa.’
  • Awliya Kiram (AS) have instructed to reciteبسم الله الرحمن الرحيم   when getting close to one’s wife so that the child is born a mumin.
