Some events require a preparation of a lifetime and they leave behind priceless memories to be treasured by posterity. It was evening on the 7th of Safar-ul-Muzaffar, and the air was filled with anticipation. Mumineen had gathered in thousands on a school ground. Joy and eagerness was written over the faces of all those who were present. The calm of the evening suddenly broke with the chants of "Allah-o-Akbar" rising in a cadence from every corner of the ground. This was in response to a piece of news that was conveyed to them: "Aqa Maula's (TUS) flight from Colombo had touched the land of Bangalore." Tears of joy and happiness streamed from the eyes of mumineen. They had waited for 22 years to see their Maula in their land. Their eyes beheld a sight which hitherto had only been dreamt of. Aqa Maula's (TUS) face glowed with happiness at witnessing this love and enthusiasm. He showered blessings and prayers and confirmed that Imam Husain's (AS) Chehlum would be performed in Bangalore.
Bangalore is one the few cities in India which is looked at favorably by international standards. This city is a unique blend of the marvels of nature and the marvels of man: It is a beautiful green city, and it is known as "The Silicon Valley."
Munineen first settled in Bangalore in the year 1930 A.D (1349 H.) A large number of mumineen came into the city after 1980. Syedna Taher Saifuddin Aqa (RA) visited Bangalore twice. Aqa Maula (TUS) had visited Bangalore four times prior to this visit. The last visit of Maula (TUS) was a short sojourn for two days in 1407 H.
Historians regard thirty years as the time for one generation to succeed another. Twenty-two years was definitely a very long hiatus in which the city of Bangalore had transformed and values had changed. But, mumineen during this period of time stayed knit as a community, adhered to the tenets of the shariat, preserved their culture and tradition. They had acutely felt the need for a bigger masjid. The building of a beautiful and precious masjid (as described by Aqa Maula (TUS) in his bayan) was instrumental in bringing Maula (TUS) to their city. And their love and commitment to deen earned them the ultimate happiness of Maula (TUS). This time he stayed in Bangalore for the longest duration: more than 24 days. Not only did Maula (TUS) perform Chehlum here, but also bestowed upon the mumineen of Bangalore the sharaf of Imam Hasan's (SA) shahadat. As trees attract rain, similarly ikhlaas (purity of heart) attracts barakaat and mumineen of Bangalore were fortunate to receive the showers of barakaat and the city lived up to its famous appendage, "The Garden City."
