One of
the oldest fruits known to man, the fig, has benefits ranging from assisting
the digestive system to preventing heart disease, from being an antiseptic to
being an energy food. Indeed the nutritional value of this fruit and its health
benefits, have lead to its acquiring the title of ‘nature’s most nearly perfect
fruit’.
The fig
or teen as it is known in Arabic, not only has the distinction of being
one of the fruits mentioned in the Quran e Majeed but has a Surah named
after it too: the 95th surat, Surat ut Teen.
Another
fruit that shares special mention in the surat
is the zaitoon (olive), it too, along
with its oil, has been used across the centuries for illumination, food and
medicinal purposes, including bone development and prevention of ageing.
Food
for thought!
Surat ut Teen
begins with an oath-‘By the Teen and the Zaitoon’
It is an
established fact that oaths, when taken are over someone or something that is
highly valuable and dear to the oath taker. One does not swear by insignificant
objects. How can it be accepted that the Creator would take an oath by a fig
and an olive when even with all the healing properties and nutritive value
swearing by them would be inconceivable from a sane human?
Awliyaullah (SA) have the answers that dispel any
doubts. Their all encompassing ilm explains
the true meanings of such ‘ayat of the Quran e Majeed that cannot be
understood at face value and through this knowledge, we learn to appreciate the
infinite marvels of the Quran. Awliyaullah
(SA) are Ahl uz Zikr who the Quran asks us to approach when we do not know.

Don’t
lose this prescription…
Hudat
Kiram (AS) have counseled that when searching for a lost object, recite Surat ut Teen.
You will,
invariably find the object and that too very quickly.
