“Know: if all Creation unites in order to provide you with something that Allah Ta′ala does not intend to give you, it will be unable to do so. Likewise, all Creation will be powerless to prevent that which Allah Ta’ala intends reaches you.”

Rasulullah SA states:

Know: if all Creation unites in order to provide you with something that Allah Ta′ala does not intend to give you, it will be unable to do so. Likewise, all Creation will be powerless to prevent that which Allah Ta’ala intends reaches you.”

Contentment. Peace of mind. Faith. Trust. Acceptance. These are all things which this hadeeth shareef wraps up. What hits me with striking immediacy is that Rasulullah SA is giving us such profound peace of mind. We spend our entire lives pursuing goals and things which deep down we know might not even be attainable. Yet we still toil day and night, breaking our backs and burdening ourselves with the weight of pursuit. Here, with beautiful simplicity we come to terms with one fact; we will get what we will get. Destiny will trump all obstacles for us to achieve and attain what has been decided. And most importantly, Allah Ta´ala is on ‘our’ side. He will fulfil every promise he has made. Hence why burden ourselves by worry? And secondly, why desire that which He, in his infinite wisdom, has deemed we should not receive? Doesn’t accepting that lead to a profound sense of peace?

Yes, what is required is a certain degree of faith and trust that one has to build with his Creator. Interestingly enough, the hadeeth used the word ‘Creation’. The very word itself hints to the existence of a Creator. Each one of us is a part of that Creation which is nothing but the manifestation of Allah’s love. Would he then forsake us? Would he not wish the very best for each of us? Then, let us sit back, relax and revel in the acceptance that He knows what is best for us, even though we might not always understand the reason behind the decisions He has made for us.

Contentment is really an attitude which says that ‘I am satisfied with what Allah Ta´ala has given me’. Hence, this helps us give perspective and cement a positive attitude which draws us away from a destructive negative one that focuses on a relentless pursuit of things which were perhaps just not meant to be. If we don’t, then there is nothing left but comparison with others. That comparison becomes the thief of our joy.

Trust in the infinite power and wisdom that is Allah Ta´ala and his Dai. Everything else will then fall into place.
