At the opening ceremony of the genetics department at the University of Karachi on 25th June 2004 at 7:30 p.m., the Vice Chancellor Professor Doctor Pir Zada Qasim Rida Siddiqi addressed the gathering:

From the day His Holiness Syedna arrived in Karachi, his schedule and commitments have been truly exhausting. During his visit, Syedna continued to shower benedictions and blessings upon the people. He could have excused himself from being here, and given his blessings and benedictions with the permission to conduct the ceremony on his behalf. In my heart I was filled with boundless respect, reverence, conviction and love for him when I learnt that Syedna in spite of his obligations, agreed to grace the occasion for the inauguration of the department.

Blessings, benedictions and good wishes, when combined, have no equal. The footsteps of Syedna that are full of barakat and blessings have tread upon the grounds of this university. They have no parallel, they are glad tidings of progress and improvement. Each age has its own blessings; these blessings of Syedna will last for years and years to come. Syedna who is present among us is himself such a blessing, the source of barakat…Friends, such love, humanity and goodwill (khair e kaseer) are the unique qualities of His Holiness Syedna. These blessings will remain with us forever.

I thank all of you present from the bottom of my heart, though I cannot mention all your names individually. Gentlemen of learning, you have graced the occasion with your presence and the university is proud to have you here. I am thankful to you all.
