Bayan Mubarak

Extracts from Waaz Mubarak on Chehlum, 1425 H.

There is no creature superior to man. Creation is like an industrial unit: the objective of an industry is to produce quality merchandise, but there are several stages in its manufacture. Let us consider the fabric industry… the first stage is the planting and reaping of cotton. Cotton is, next, woven into threads. These threads are mounted on a loom and knit into cloth. In Allah's creation man is the final product, man was the raison d' etre for the creation of all other beings.

Man has control over all creatures, he has power over maadin (rocks), nabaat (plants) and haiwan (animals). From the depths of the earth, man mines diamonds, rubies and emeralds. Man has knowledge which the animals do not.

Man uses plants for his personal use such as the extraction of chemicals for medicine, and the cutting down of forests for the construction of houses.

Finally, man subjugates animals to his will. Even the most powerful of animals like the lion are captured and confined in cages. The hunter sends vultures to secure his prey: the vulture hands the prey to its master and returns to its confine. Man tames the deadliest of snakes, lions and elephants. The mahout mounts the elephant's back and prods it along to carry ton-loads of wood.

Man, then, is superior to all creatures. Who is the creator of man? The creator is he who bestowed man with the power of intent which distinguishes him from all other living beings.
