Urs Mubarak

Syedna Zoeb (RA)

The year was 526 H. Imam Tayyeb (AS) opted for seclusion. The palaces were abandoned, the kingdom usurped. But the Imam's mission continued through the Dai al Mutlaq who was to act as vicegerent, and lead with the authority of the Imam. Syedna Zoeb bin Musa al Waadei (RA) was appointed the first Dai at the hands of Maulatuna Hurrat ul Malikah, the Queen of Yemen and the mother of Duat Mutlaqeen (RA).

The news of satr had spread among the rulers of Yemen all of whom contended for the position of Dai al Mutlaq, but Syedna Zoeb (RA) was not among them. His humility could only find a parallel in the humility of Tur Mountain in the account of Nabi Musa (AS). Musa (AS) expressed a desire to meet Allah. All the mountains reached up high to display their worth but Tur humbled itself. And indeed Tur was selected for the privilege, Allah revealed His glory on the mountain.

Syedi Abdul Qadir Hakimuddin (RA) writes in praise of Dai Zoeb (RA): "You were a lexicon in the pursuit of ilm, be it zahir, batin or haqiqat." Syedna Zoeb (RA) was known as "farraas ul kutub", (voracious reader), for his scholarly pursuits. The seat of dawat during his 14 year reign was Alhoath, north of Sana'a. Syedna Zoeb's (RA) ma'zoon, Syedna Khattab (AQ) of great renown was a prolific writer and poet.

Syedna Zoeb (RA) passed away on the day of Ashura, in the year 546 H., a testimony to the devotion of the Duat for Imam Husain (AS). The qabr mubarak of Syedna Zoeb (RA) is not known; his masjid in Alhoath has been renovated by Aqa Maula (TUS).
