In this
auspicious month we await the glorious day of the milaad of the
51st Dai al Mutlaq Syedna Taher Saifuddin (RA). Many glad
tidings, bisharaat, had been received from his predecessors
predicting his golden era and his exalted status.
Nature
has its own way of preserving the past. It safeguards these relics in the depths
of the earth. The value of historical artifacts increases with the passage of
time: not only do they become antiquated rarities,
Shibaam
is heaven on earth. It is the highest peak of Haraaz rising 9000 feet
above sea level. Barren beauty punctuated by green terraces stretches
as far as the eye can see. The military fort stands mighty, enveloped
in a mist of white fog. The edge of the mountain looks out onto a
dizzying panorama of Haraaz, and neighboring cities, all the way to
the Red Sea. The qabrmubarak of Syedna Idris Imaduddin (RA) lies
here; it is encircled by mumineen who have come for ziyarat from far
and wide.
It is believed by some that the order of
dawat has been adopted
from other worldly systems. Not so—the order of dawat is foremost
and eternal. Rasulullah (SA) brought the religion of Islam and
instituted dawat for the protection of religion.
The tenets of deen are based on revelation. These tenets are eternal
for they are not based on education by mortals.
The kuffar of Quraysh claimed that Rasulullah (SA)
It is related that Maulana Abdul Muttalib (AS) was told in a
dream, "Unearth Zamzam - the hidden treasure of the great Shaikh."
Maulana Abdul Muttalib (AS) awoke and said, "O' Allah make it clear
to me!" He went back to sleep and was spoken to again, "Unearth
Zamzam; that which doesn't dry up." Maulana Abdul Muttalib (AS)
awoke again and said, "O' Allah make it clear to me!"
It was said to him, "Unearth Zamzam to quench the thirst of the
massed pilgrims of Haj."
The name, Dargah e Hakimi
conjures up visions of the qubbamubaraka of Syedi Abdulqadir
Hakimuddin (RA) built in pristine marble and the two adjacent qubbas of
Syedna Abdut Tayyeb Zakiuddin (RA) and Syedi Jeevanji. Stretching beyond are
beautifully manicured gardens with fountains interspersed with rows of
bungalows—a retreat offering zuwwar a tranquil holiday along with the barakat
of ziyarat.
Due to the inseparable link between Arabic and the Quran, Arabic has
left a deep impact on the languages of the peoples who have accepted
Islam.
The Persians, for example, gave up their script and
language in favor of Arabic; influencing religious science, grammar,
rhetoric, prosody and other sciences. The influence of Arabic on Persian
was such that it surpassed even the influence of Latin on English.
Professor E.G. Brown says:
Humor is human. Animals can show anger, jealousy, hatred, love
and all other human feelings but they cannot laugh.
Humor is caused by three situations: frustration of expectations
in small matters, juxtaposition of two incongruities, or
innocent disrespect of the respected.
Laughter is serious business. It all starts with a smile,
proceeds to a giggle, a chuckle, and may end in a chortle or a
guffaw.
In life duality is a reality. Happiness and
miseries coexist: one can never avoid miseries.
What’s the definition of a fast? According to the Daaim ul
Islam fasting is an abstinence from food, drink and nikaah
(consummation), for one whole day preceded by niyyat of fasting.
Maulatuna Fatema (AS) has said, “What is a fast if a person does
not restrain his tongue, his ears, eyes and other organs!” A
person fasting should not only not eat or drink but see no evil,
hear no evil, do no evil. Says Rasulullah (SA): “Zakaat is paid
of all things,
One day Eesa Nabi (AS) met Yahya Nabi (SA).
Eesa Nabi was happy and smiling. Yahya Nabi had a sad and
worried look on his face. Yahya Nabi looked at Eesa Nabi and
said, “Why are you smiling? Do you not fear the retribution of
Allah?” Eesa Nabi smiled and replied, “Do
