Upliftment
In Madagascar, on the occasion of the milad mubarak of Rasulullah (SA), Aqa Maula (TUS) expressed the intention to start a project for the upliftment of mumineen around the world, and urged mumineen to participate in this scheme. Corresponding to the numerical value of the name of Mohammed, 92, Aqa Maula (TUS) hoped that 9,200 families around the world would be uplifted in all facets of life: financial, social, religious and academic. Needy families have been identified by aamils in their various localities. To participate requires a mumin to adopt such a family, and help it in every way possible. To provide food and grain if necessary. To provide money, influence and advice to start up a business enterprise. To admit the children into school. To provide medical assistance, financial and otherwise. To refurbish the home with necessary items like beds and blankets, and to supply the means for taharat. To teach the family the ways of the shariat, and to teach them lisan-ud-dawat. To help them stay away from what shariat has forbidden such as alcohol, cigarettes, and interest. To encourage the women to wear rida, and the men to grow beards. It is a holistic approach to provide support and assistance for these families and help them help themselves. It is Maula's desire that these families be uplifted to such an extent that they ultimately become capable of providing, just as they were once provided for.
"This is your brother, wassalam." Aqa Maula (TUS) quoted in a bayan mubarak. To care for the foster family as one's own is indeed the call of our Maula (TUS).
