Anyone who is familiar with the Arabic alphabet knows that it has 28 letters. 14 of these letters have dots, one dot, two or three; while the other 14 are without dots. Now imagine writing a book in Arabic using only the dot-less letters of the alphabet, only half of the letters. Impossible, you might say!
Syedna Taher Saifuddin (RA) was a world renowned Arabic literary scholar. A couple in his works of prose and poetry are composed with dot-less letters only. For example the text of his Risalat Sharifa,
(1350 H.), like the title, has no dotted letters. The treatise begins thus:
The Aimmat Fatemiyeen (AS) are the Quran e Natiq and the Duat Mutlaqeen (RA) are the verses of the Quran. No wonder then that their whole lives and teachings are in concordance with the Quran e Majeed. Fatemi literature, in turn, is adapted from the greatest literary masterpiece, the Quran e Majeed itself. This style of using dot-less letters in literary composition is modeled on the example of the Kalimat ush Shahadat.
