What is your area of specialization?
Orthopedics
How did you get into this profession and for how long have you been
practicing?
Honestly, it was my parents’ decision. In those days there
were not many options. And as I liked helping people I felt
medicine was one of the ways by which I could accomplish it.
I received my Masters in Orthopedics from Bombay University,
after having cleared my MBBS. I also have DNBE (orth), FCPS
(orth), D (orth) degrees.
After getting my Masters in 1984, I was initially a lecturer
and then an associate professor at Grant Medical College,
Bombay. I also am a Bombay University, Post Graduate Guide.
Your most memorable case …
My most memorable case would obviously be the one that I am
presently involved in. But the following one also comes to my
mind –
A sixteen year old boy had a minor injury to his left knee
whilst playing football. An X-ray revealed a large tumor
which, after biopsy proved malignant. After 2 sittings of
chemotherapy he was advised amputation. I removed his tumor
during surgery and reconstructed the gap with another bone
thus managing to save the leg. When the chemotherapy was
resumed he developed a problem wherein he was completely
paralysed from below the neck- both arms and legs and was put
on a ventilator. He was in this state for 2 ½ months in the
ICU. During that time in order to clear his system of toxins
he was subjected to a type of dialysis, where in normal
circumstances, it is carried out about 2-3 times. After
consulting the family, dialysis was carried out 19 times. He
then started to recover steadily and after about 3 months, he
had recovered completely to proper unaided walking.
He has now resumed his studies and has a brilliant career
ahead of him.
By all normal means, he shouldn’t have recovered at all from
both his problems- but repeated araz for shifa was done to Aqa
Maula (TUS) and Maula (TUS) always said “Khuda Tala Shifa
Aapse” every time !!And shifa he did have !! - TOTALLY.!!
There are no explanations- I don’t know- I SEE AND I BELIEVE!!
“Faith Heals” – can you cite some cases you have encountered during your
practice where the impossible became possible by Maulana’s
(TUS) dua mubarak.
One of my patients had a fall from a height of about 20 feet
which fractured his back, injured his spinal cord and
paralysed both legs. The MRI scans revealed severe damage to
his spinal cord which made it very unlikely that he would ever
recover. I had already told his family that he would not
recover.
I then took him up for surgery and stabilized his back with a
pair of steel rods .At the end of about 3 months, he was
walking with calipers, he then improved steadily and today he
walks independently without even a trace of a limp, prays
namaaz normally and has resumed his job which involves
climbing stairs, ladders and working at heights.
All this has happened because the patient was told that Aqa
Maula (TUS) had said “Khuda Tala shifa aapse” when araz was
done - and both of us had faith – mine became even stronger
after this incident.
You have been appointed on the Advisory Council of Saifee Hospital. How do
you aspire to serve the hospital in this capacity?
With the raza and dua of Huzurala (TUS), I hope to serve the
hospital as a mumin Orthopaedic surgeon and try to achieve the
dream of Aqa Maula (TUS) – that Saifee Hospital should be a
source of help and Shifa to all. .
You recently received the azeem sharaf of doing Huzurala’s (TUS) personal
khidmet…
Indeed I am extremely thankful that Huzurala (TUS) has given
this adna ghulam such azeem n‘emat and barakat of doing
khidmat – really I am at a loss of words to express myself.
But I pray to Aqa Maula (TUS) to give me strength and
direction. I can only pray to him and take his vasila in this
situation.
Tell us something about the honorary work that you do…
I am involved in a few organizations aimed at helping
economically deprived people with medical problems.
“Prevention is better than cure” – any tips for our readers on how to
prevent strain & avoidable injury
Putting it simply—
- For backache- don’t bend and pick objects.
- Exercise regularly.
- Do regular walking.
- Do not get carried away by what you read or see in
advertisements or from other peoples’ personal experiences.
Try and reason for yourself whether it sounds correct or ask
for help from qualified personnel.
- BELIEVE! keep your aqida strong.
May Allah grant long and healthy life till Roz-e-Qayamat to
our beloved Aqa Maula Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin (TUS). |
